Kodak Color Plus 200
January 21, 2020Went up to the Bay Area and ate, walked about, and took pictures. For this trip we used Kodak ColorPlus 200. I’m gonna say, ColorPlus is a sleeper. It’s considered a budget film, but it’s definitely one of my favorite stocks. There’s a texture to the emulsion that gives it a nostalgic feel. Additionally, there’s a warmth and vibrancy to color tones that’s very desirable. The info on the interwebs about this film stock is somewhat limited, but it’s apparently part of the kodacolor line, the canister itself is branded “kodacolor 200.” But for a supposedly budget film, it’s actually quite hard to find. The demand for this stock seems to have increased as it is harder to find rolls for sale at reasonable “budget” rate.
Anyway, Dez and Delmy were my travel and shooting buddies on this trip and were all part of our little Colorplus 200 challenge. We wandered about from the Mission District and Chinatown, eating and taking pictures. Unfortunately Dez’s roll had some problems in the processing.

I definitely recommend this film to any casual photographer. I especially recommend this film stock to those who shoot more street photography style. The inherent texture of the film really lends itself to the sought-after characteristics that film street photographers tend to look for. So if you can get your hands on it, definitely grab some. Save your portra and save some money, go hard on this one.
